AGRICULTURE Undersecretary of Philippines Domingo Panganiban said they are eyeing the importation of fertilizer from Indonesia through a government-to-government approach.
This developed after Panganiban met Philippine Ambassador to Indonesia Gina Jamoralin and discussed potential areas of agricultural cooperation between Manila and Jakarta.
According to Panganiban, the Philippine government remains open to proposals for the neighboring countries to jointly develop high-value crops.
The Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture previously proposed collaborative efforts, particularly on the research and development of the value chain of coconut and coffee, during the 3rd Meeting of the Philippines-Indonesia Joint Agriculture Working Group in August.
The 4th Meeting of the Philippines-Indonesia Joint Agriculture Working Group (JAWG), set to be hosted by Indonesia, could be utilized as a platform to raise issues, and explore technical cooperation in agriculture, according to the Department of Agriculture (DA) of Philippines.
