The business scope of the Cooperative are planting, primary processing, and sales of Chinese herbal medicines. It is providing scientific and technological consultation services for the members of the cooperative. The herbal medicine planting area is 1260 mu. In 2017, it produced more than 480 tons of fresh Chinese herbal medicines, such as polygala tenuifolia, scutellariabaicalensis, and bupleurum, with an output value of more than 6.4 million yuan. The cooperative, located in the east of Beichi village, covers an area of 7 Mu and has invested more than 2 million yuan. We have built 3300 square meters of Chinese herbal medicine drying ground, 600 square meters of Chinese herbal medicine warehouse, 470 square meters of Chinese medicine primary processing workshop, 110 square meters of drying workshop, 120 square meters of the training center and exhibition hall, and 300 square meters of office area. We have installed advanced drying equipment, which has been put into use. The cooperative has successively signed the technical cooperation agreement on production, training, and research with the Economic Crop Research Institute of Shanxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the Modern Research Center of Traditional Chinese Medicine of Shanxi University. It has built a 200 mu demonstration base of improved varieties of traditional Chinese medicine and directly sold the products after initial processing to large and medium-sized production enterprises such as Zhendong pharmaceutical, Yuankang pharmaceutical, Sunflower pharmaceutical, and Baoyi pharmaceutical. The sales volume is over 500 tons. It is especially gratifying that the cooperative export the primary processed products of Chinese herbal medicines to East Asia and Southeast Asia through Anhui Wanzhen Medicinal-slices Factory, earning foreign exchange income.
